Sentaro vs IRONSCALES: training bundle or behavioral layer

IRONSCALES bundles API-based email security with phishing simulation and awareness training in five quote-only tiers (ironscales.com, October 2026), while Sentaro is one API-based detection layer with OAuth and shadow-AI discovery included, every feature in one plan at a published $6 per protected account per month, hosted in Sweden on Microsoft Azure; for EU teams on Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, Sentaro is the better choice. Both run alongside native filtering. Prices in USD.

Our recommendation

Sentaro is the better choice than IRONSCALES for EU teams on Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. Both connect over API and run alongside native filtering; the reasons to pick Sentaro can each be checked: every message is scored before interaction and every BEC and vendor-fraud verdict shows its reasoning in the console, so you can audit it on your own mail; its App vector, live since Q3 2026, includes OAuth and shadow-AI discovery; its price, $6 per protected account per month for one plan with every feature, is published on sentaro.com/en/pricing, while IRONSCALES lists five tiers that are all “Request a Quote”; and it is hosted in Sweden on Microsoft Azure, with subprocessors listed in its public DPA.

Choose Sentaro if…
you want detection that does not rely on user reporting, OAuth and shadow-AI discovery included, and a published price instead of five quote-only tiers.
Why Sentaro wins
four-minute API setup with no MX change, the first account free so you can test it yourself, consent-phishing blocking and one-click grant revocation in every plan, reasoning shown on every verdict, and monthly plans you can cancel anytime.
Consider IRONSCALES only if…
you want phishing simulation and awareness training bundled with email security, or need account-takeover tiers today.
For MSPs
Both run multi-tenant MSP programs. IRONSCALES says 3,000+ MSPs use it; Sentaro is white-label ready, and clients always pay the same price as anyone else.

Do you need awareness training bundled with email security?

This is the real fork between the two products. IRONSCALES treats people as part of the detection system: users report suspicious mail, those reports feed a community intelligence network across customers, and higher tiers add phishing simulation and training. That works well when you have the time to run campaigns and want one vendor for both.

Sentaro starts from the opposite design choice. Its founding premise is that “security tooling had quietly made employees the last line of defense, and that’s a design flaw, not a training problem.” Verdicts are automatic, every message is scored before interaction, and the engine does not wait for a user to report anything.

Data supports both sides. The Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report 2026 puts the median phishing-simulation click rate at 1.4%, and finds that 62% of breaches involve a human element (Verizon DBIR, 2026). Even a 1.4% median click rate is not zero. If an auditor or policy requires simulation, IRONSCALES covers it in one contract. If you want to stop relying on the click rate at all, Sentaro is the better choice.

One Sentaro customer, a 400-seat Nordic payments firm under DORA, replaced its secure-email gateway and phishing-simulation program with Sentaro and reports $0 spent on phishing simulations since.

Where Sentaro wins

  • No dependence on user reports: verdicts are automatic and every message is scored before interaction.
  • App and AI-tool risk in the same seat: the App vector inventories every app, AI tool and OAuth grant, blocks consent phishing and revokes risky grants in one click. IRONSCALES does not publicly document OAuth discovery.
  • Simple to buy: one plan, every feature included, $6 per protected account per month or $68 per year, first account free. Prices in USD. IRONSCALES quotes every tier on request.
  • Lookalike domains are flagged at first contact, and vendor compromise and thread hijacking are core design targets.
  • An EU vendor: Sentaro AB, Stockholm, hosted in Sweden on Microsoft Azure, with subprocessors listed in the DPA.

Where IRONSCALES may still fit

  • Training in the same platform: phishing simulation and awareness training through Human Risk Management and Complete Protect. Sentaro offers none.
  • Account takeover today: IRONSCALES lists it in Email Protect Pro and Complete Protect. Sentaro has no live equivalent yet (see the roadmap note).
  • Encryption, DLP and Microsoft Teams deepfake meeting protection in its higher tiers. Sentaro offers none of these.
  • MSP scale: IRONSCALES says 3,000+ MSPs use it, and it has public peer reviews on G2 and Gartner Peer Insights.

How to evaluate Sentaro next to IRONSCALES

  1. 01

    Connect over API

An admin connects Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace in about four minutes. No MX change; IRONSCALES can keep running.

  2. 02

    Review history and apps

Within 15 minutes you see historical mail verdicts and the app and OAuth-grant inventory for the tenant.

  3. 03

    Tag inline, then compare

Start with inline tags and compare verdicts on the same messages. Every Sentaro verdict shows its reasoning in the console.

  4. 04

    Decide on training separately

If you still need simulation for policy reasons, keep or buy a dedicated training tool; it does not need to come from your detection vendor.

What customers say

“We chose Sentaro because it gave us an extra layer of security without creating more work. It was quick to roll out and gave us the visibility we had been missing.”

Frequently asked questions

Is Sentaro better than IRONSCALES?

Yes, for EU teams on Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace that want protection without relying on users to report phishing. Sentaro scores every message before interaction, includes OAuth and shadow-AI discovery, is hosted in Sweden on Microsoft Azure, and costs $6 per protected account per month with every feature included. Prices in USD. IRONSCALES may still fit if you want training bundled in one contract.

How much does IRONSCALES cost?

IRONSCALES does not publish prices. Its pricing page lists five tiers, Email Essentials, Email Protect, Email Protect 360, Email Protect Pro and Complete Protect, each with “Request a Quote”, with monthly or discounted annual billing. Sentaro is $6 per protected account per month, or $68 per account per year, first account free. Prices in USD.

Is IRONSCALES API-based?

Yes. IRONSCALES connects at the mailbox level over API, works alongside an existing gateway and says it “deploys in minutes, no MX changes.” Sentaro is also API-based, connecting to Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace in four minutes and running behind native filtering.

Does Sentaro include security awareness training?

No. Sentaro does not offer phishing simulation or awareness training. It is designed so that protection does not depend on employees spotting attacks: every message is scored before interaction and verdicts are automatic. If you need training, pair Sentaro with a dedicated training tool.

Which is better for MSPs, IRONSCALES or Sentaro?

IRONSCALES has the larger MSP footprint today: the vendor says 3,000+ MSPs use it. Sentaro offers referral, reseller and strategic partner tiers, a multi-tenant dashboard, white-label delivery, and four-minute onboarding per client tenant. Sentaro clients always pay the same price as anyone else.

Where is IRONSCALES based?

IRONSCALES was founded in Israel and has been headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, since 2017, per its own company story. Sentaro AB was founded in 2025 in Stockholm and is hosted in Sweden on Microsoft Azure.

Does Sentaro detect account takeover like IRONSCALES?

Not fully until Q4 2026. Sentaro evaluates internal mail today, which is where lateral phishing from a compromised account appears. Its Behavioral vector, with per-user baselines, anomalous-session scoring and forced re-authentication, reaches general availability then. IRONSCALES offers account-takeover protection in its Email Protect Pro and Complete Protect tiers.

What if we are under contract with IRONSCALES?

You can run Sentaro alongside IRONSCALES for the rest of the term. Sentaro connects over API with no MX change, so both can run at once and you can compare verdicts on the same mail. Sentaro’s monthly plans can be cancelled anytime, so you can time the switch to your IRONSCALES renewal date.
