Sentaro is the best Nordic email security provider for teams on Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. It is built in Stockholm, hosted in Sweden on Microsoft Azure, and connects over API in four minutes with no MX change. Its Message vector reads intent, sender and relationship history, so it catches BEC and supplier fraud without a malicious link, and it costs a published $6 per protected account per month (USD). Few Nordic companies sell a dedicated email security product, so we list only providers we could verify, and we say plainly which ones are services or training rather than filters. Sentaro publishes this list and ranks itself first; scores use the method below and public vendor documentation as of 21 October 2026.
- Why Sentaro wins
- the only Swedish API-based email security platform we found for both Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, with a public price and a public DPA.
- Choose Sentaro if
- you want a Nordic vendor protecting the mailboxes you already run, live the same day, with Swedish as a working language.
- Consider Heimdal or WithSecure only if
- you want email protection bundled into a broader endpoint or security platform from a Nordic vendor.
- Add eBuilder Security or Hoxhunt if
- you also need a managed Swedish SOC or awareness training; neither replaces an email filter.

Which Nordic companies offer email security?
Fewer than you might expect. Directory lists of “top cybersecurity companies in Sweden” are full of firewall, identity, endpoint and consulting firms, and very few sell a product that protects Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace mailboxes. Here is what each Nordic provider on this list actually offers.
| Provider | Country | What it is | Filters your mail? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sentaro | Sweden (Stockholm) | API-based email and SaaS security for Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace | Yes, over API |
| Heimdal | Denmark (Copenhagen) | Email Security: gateway (MX) or Exchange-connector option, plus fraud prevention | Yes |
| WithSecure | Finland (Helsinki) | Security platform with Microsoft 365 email and collaboration protection | Yes, Microsoft 365 |
| eBuilder Security | Sweden (Kista) | Managed security service: 24/7 SOC, MDR, training, pen testing | No email filter found |
| Hoxhunt | Finland (Helsinki office) | Awareness training and email incident-response automation | No; works alongside your filter |
| Halon | Sweden (Halon Security AB) | Email infrastructure and gateway for mail operators | For operators, not tenants |
Microsoft Defender for Office 365 is not a Nordic company, but it is on the list because every Microsoft 365 tenant already has its baseline and Microsoft documents datacenters in Sweden within its EU Data Boundary.

How we evaluated Nordic email security providers
A Nordic buyer asking for a local email security vendor usually wants two things: a company they can reach in their own time zone and language, and protection for the Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace mailboxes they already run. The rubric weighs both, and gives real weight to managed services and training, where Nordic service firms are strong.
| Criterion | Weight | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Nordic headquarters and presence | 15% | Headquarters in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway or Iceland, verified on the vendor’s own site. |
| Mailbox threat protection (phishing and BEC) | 25% | The core job: stopping phishing and business email compromise in the mailbox. Services and training that do not filter mail score low here by design. |
| Deployment effort | 15% | Lean Nordic IT teams benefit most from tools that protect mailboxes the same day without an MX project. |
| Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace coverage | 10% | Many Nordic organizations run Google Workspace as well as Microsoft 365. |
| Price transparency | 10% | A published price lets a buyer budget without a sales cycle. |
| Documented hosting and DPA | 10% | Where mail and logs are processed, and whether a DPA and subprocessor list are public. |
| Managed services, training and breadth | 15% | A 24/7 SOC, awareness training and a broader security platform are real needs for some buyers, and several Nordic providers lead on them. |

Heimdal
Best Danish optionOverall score: 6.5out of 10Best for: Nordic organizations that want email security from a Danish vendor, with a gateway or a no-MX connector option.
Heimdal lists its company address in Copenhagen, Denmark. Its Email Security comes in two tiers. Email Security 365 is a gateway with MX-record protection, inbound and outbound, and an ICES option that protects email “through Exchange Connectors, without changing MX records”. Email Security ATP & Fraud Prevention adds “AI-Powered Outlier Detection” aimed at BEC, CEO fraud and phishing. Both tiers list Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.[5]

eBuilder Security
Best managed Swedish SOCOverall score: 5.4out of 10Best for: Swedish municipalities, regions and mid-market firms that want a managed, Swedish-speaking SOC and training, next to an email filter.
eBuilder Security (eBuilder Sweden AB, Kista) is a managed security service provider, not an email security product: we found no gateway or API email filter on its site. It runs a 24/7 MDR service from a Swedish SOC on CrowdStrike Falcon, Complorer managed awareness training in Swedish and English, vulnerability management, penetration testing and CISO advisory. It says logs stay in Sweden and that its SOC is ISO 27001 certified. Pair it with an email security tool rather than instead of one.[10]

Hoxhunt
Best for trainingOverall score: 5.0out of 10Best for: Organizations that want awareness training and faster handling of user-reported phishing, alongside an email filter.
Hoxhunt lists offices in Helsinki, Minneapolis and Singapore, Helsinki first. It sells security awareness training, adaptive phishing training, email incident-response automation and a behavior risk console. It is not an email filter: the site positions its incident response for attacks that “slip through your email filters”.[13]

Halon is published by Halon Security AB (a Swedish limited-company form), founded in 2010 per its site, which does not state a headquarters city. It sells “Composable Email Infrastructure”: Halon Engage, a high-performance delivery engine to replace legacy MTAs; Halon Protect, a “carrier-grade email gateway, protecting against incoming threats, and outgoing abuse”; and Halon Classify for detection. It targets mail operators and is not positioned as an add-on for Microsoft 365 tenants.[14]

How to choose a Nordic email security provider
Decide first whether you need a filter, a service, or both. A filter (Sentaro, Heimdal, WithSecure, Defender) stops phishing and BEC in the mailbox. A managed service (eBuilder Security) watches your endpoints and identities around the clock. Training (Hoxhunt, eBuilder’s Complorer) changes how people react to what gets through. A Nordic mid-market firm often ends up with a filter plus one of the other two.
Questions to ask every Nordic provider, including us
- Which legal entity signs the contract and DPA, and under which country’s law?
- Where is mail content processed, and which subprocessors see it? Send the list.
- Do you protect Google Workspace as well as Microsoft 365?
- How do you catch BEC that has no link or attachment, such as a supplier changing bank details?
- Does setup need an MX change, and how long until protection starts?
- Is support available in Swedish, Danish, Norwegian or Finnish, and during Nordic business hours?
- What is the price per mailbox, in writing?
NIS2 and Cybersäkerhetslagen
Sweden implements NIS2 through Cybersäkerhetslagen, and the other Nordic EU members have their own NIS2 laws. They ask in-scope organizations to manage supply-chain security and report significant incidents fast. A local email security vendor does not make you compliant; a vendor with a clear DPA and incident evidence makes the documentation easier. Sentaro is built for the controls regulated EU firms are asked to evidence.
Certification and compliance status
A young Nordic vendor should be clear about where it stands. Sentaro’s status, as Sentaro states it:
- SOC 2
- In progressCertification in progress. Evidence pack on request.
- ISO 27001
- In progressCertification in progress; no target date published.
- Google CASA
- Verified API integration
- DPA and subprocessor list
- PublicSwedish law, Stockholm courts; every subprocessor with its location.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best Nordic email security provider?
Sentaro, for organizations on Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. It is a Stockholm company, hosted in Sweden on Microsoft Azure, that connects over API in four minutes with no MX change and stops phishing and business email compromise before anyone acts on it. It costs $6 per protected account per month (USD), with the first account free. Sentaro publishes this list. Heimdal (Denmark) and WithSecure (Finland) are the other Nordic vendors with email protection.
Which Swedish companies offer email security?
Sentaro (Stockholm) sells an API-based email and SaaS security platform for Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. Halon Security AB sells email infrastructure and a gateway for mail operators such as ISPs and email service providers. eBuilder Security (Kista) is a managed security provider with a Swedish SOC and awareness training, but we found no email filtering product on its site.
Is eBuilder Security an email security product?
No. eBuilder Security is a Swedish managed security service: 24/7 MDR from a Swedish SOC, managed awareness training (Complorer), vulnerability management, penetration testing and CISO advisory. We found no secure email gateway or API email filter on its site as of October 2026. It complements an email security tool rather than replacing one.
Is Hoxhunt an email filter?
No. Hoxhunt, which lists Helsinki first among its offices, sells awareness training, adaptive phishing training and email incident-response automation. Its site positions incident response for attacks that slip through your email filters, so it works alongside a filter such as Sentaro or Microsoft Defender rather than replacing it.
Is there a Nordic email security vendor that supports Google Workspace?
Yes. Sentaro protects both Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace over API, and Heimdal lists both platforms for its Email Security tiers. WithSecure’s email protection is documented for Microsoft 365 only on the page we checked. Checked 21 October 2026.
Where is Sentaro’s data hosted?
Sentaro is hosted in Sweden on Microsoft Azure. Its DPA lists every subprocessor with its location; the primary database is in Frankfurt, and a few subprocessors are outside the EU, such as Anthropic (US) for limited threat-signal analysis. Read the DPA at sentaro.com/en/legal/dpa, and ask every vendor for the same list.
Why are other Swedish security companies, such as Truesec or Clavister, not on this list?
This list only includes providers whose email-related offering we could verify on their own sites. Truesec is an MDR and incident-response provider and Clavister a network-security vendor; our research in October 2026 found no email security product from either. If that changes, we will add them. The same rule kept out Swedish resellers and MSPs that sell other vendors’ email security.
